PPR:
1. Prior Permission (PPR)/Prior notice (PN) required for
operations mentioned below within Stockholm TMA.

• School and training flights comprising “airwork”,
holding/or repeated instrument approaches (PN).
• Aerial photographing (PPR).
• Geological survey flights and the like (PN).
• Parachute dropping (PN).
• Non-urgent navaids and approach aids calibration
flights (PN).

NOTE:
- PPR time is EOBT.
- The PPR received is only valid within +/- 15 minutes.
EXAMPLE: Given PPR 1300 applies to 1245-1315.
- In case of major delay, a new PPR must be obtained for your flight.
NOTE! Submitted DLA (Delay) does not mean a new PPR. Phone calls are required.
- When the flight is canceled, you must notify the TWR.
- Flights that have received PPR for a TGL pass are allowed to start more than
15 minutes late but must land and finish your flight when the PPR time is out.
- Flights that do not operate near airports operations (such as miscellaneous APCH
or startup and landing exercises) will have a fixed time schedule.

Before submitting the flight plan,
the operator shall get prior permission or give prior notice
of the flight to the Watch Supervisor at Stockholm ACC,
PH +46 (0)8 - 585 547 02.
Exception:
If the flight will be conducted within Västerås sector,
PPR applies for all operations mentioned above.
Permission shall be obtained from Västerås ATS,
PH +46 (0)21 - 80 00 20.

Prior notice (PN)
is required for all operations without ATS flight plan
in ESOW CTR and Stockholm TMA sector Västerås

1. Availability

For all takeoffs and landings outside ATS operating
hours, Prior Permission Required (PPR).
SAR, HOSP, MIL and Police flights are exempted.

2. Provisions to school and training flights
School and training flights are subject to PPR.

Repeated touch-and-go landings TGL only permitted:
SUMMERTIME:
15 MAY–14 JUN MON–FRI 0600–1900 (0500–1800),
SAT                                         0900–1300 (0800–1200).
15 JUN–15 AUG MON–FRI 0800–1700 (0700–1600).

WINTERTIME:
16 AUG–14 MAY MON–FRI 0600–1900 (0500–1800),
SAT                                         0800–1600 (0700–1500).

TGL not permitted Good Friday, Easter Eve, Easter Day,
Ascension Day, Whitsun Eve, Whitsun Day, National Day,
Midsummer Eve, Midsummer Day, All Saints Day, Christmas
Eve and Christmas Day.

3. Traffic regulations
Outside ATS HR of OPS:
VFR entry and exit points should be used.
Arriving VFR traffic should pass overhead at 1500 ft AMSL
before joining traffic circuit and descending at own discretion.
Traffic circuit to RWY shall be flown E RWY.
Grass RWY closed, may only be used by local operator after
special agreement.

During ATS HR of OPS:
VFR entry and exit point should be used in accordance with
current RWY in use.
RWY 01 entry points are Vikhus and Golfbanan.
RWY 01 exit points are Romfartuna and Björksta.
RWY 19 entry points are Romfartuna and Björksta.
RWY 19 exit points are Vikhus and Golfbanan.
Deviations may occur according to ATC clearance

4. Parking General Aviation
General Aviation parking at apron 4 unless otherwise
instructed by ATS. Entry and exit to airside through gate at
Hässlö Flygförening. For information about access, contact
Hässlö Flygförening, se webpage www.hasslo.org

Traffic circuit
Traffic circuit to RWY shall be flown E RWY
outside TWR HR of OPS.

Traffic circuit to the strip shall be flown W strip
outside TWR HR of OPS. 

Outside of TWR HR of OPS
VFR entry- and exit points should be used outside of
TWR HR of OPS.

Arriving VFR traffic should pass the aerodrome at
1500 ft before joining traffic circuit outside TWR HR of OPS.
Descending at appropriate location as active traffic circuit
may occur simultaneously on both sides of airfield. 

During TWR HR of OPS
During TWR HR of OPS should correct VFR entry and exit point be used according to RWY in use.
RWY 01 entry points are Vikhus and Golfbanan.
RWY 01 exit points are Romfartuna and Björksta.

RWY 19 entry points are Romfartuna and Björksta.
RWY 19 exit points are Vikhus and Golfbanan.
ATC clearance may deviate.

VFR flight within CTR
Wake turbulence category L

When repeated take-off and landing exercises are performed with aircraft in wake turbulence category L, traffic pattern shall be flown at minimum 1000 ft (300 m) AMSL.

When repeated take-off and landing exercises are performed with aircraft in wake turbulence category M and H, traffic pattern shall be flown at minimum 2000 ft (600 m) AMSL.

Repeated take-off and landing exercises with aircraft in wake turbulence category L (with the exception of exercises with helicopters) should be carried out in the eastern traffic circuit, unless otherwise instructed by ATC.

GA center and Entrance and exit
The GA center is located between apron 3 and apron 4 at Västerås Airport ESOW. The street address is Hässlögatan 10.

When you arrive by air, you enter the GA center via the unlocked door towards the airfield (C).
The door to the street is locked with code lock.
In order to be able to enter the airport area again when it is time for departure, it is important that you enter the code for the lock.
The code changes at irregular intervals and is indicated at the side of the door from the airfield (airside).

Capability for removal of disabled aircraft

Flight should be avoided over the central part of Västerås,
Irsta and Björnön below 2000 ft, except in direct connection
with approach or departure. 
Overflying of the Water Treatment Plant located south of TWR
must be avoided, see Aerodrome Chart AD 2 ESOW 2-1.
Multi engine airplanes with MTOM ≥ 5700 kg with intension
to make a left turn after departure must continue to climb on
heading 010° until reaching 3000 ft AMSL before commencing
left turn.

Communication failure
Aircraft outside CTR having received no
clearance should land at an aerodrome outside
CTR and obtain clearance by telephone for further flight to STOCKHOLM/Bromma.

If no suitable aerodrome is within reach;
1. SQUAWK 7600
2. Enter CTR via VIKHUS- Holding WEST or
via BJORKSTA/ GOLFBANAN- Holding
EAST at or below 1000 ft AMSL to traffic
circuit. Transmit blind your intentions.
3. Flash LOG-lights and watch TWR for optical
signals.

Taxi 

The taxi ramp is located at the main entrance of the airport terminal. Taxi fares vary depending on what time and day you travel. It is possible to call and prebook your taxi.
The taxi driver will then either wait for you outside the Arrivals Terminal or pick you up in good time before your scheduled departure.

Västerås Central Station offers excellent train connections to a number of destinations.
There are hourly and sometimes, half hourly trains to and from Stockholm.
From Västerås Central Station, catch bus No. 3 to the airport.
